| | What you need to know about the Indiana Dulcimer Festival.
What are the registration fees? What's included?
The registration fee for participation in the 2012 Indiana Dulcimer Festival is $225.
Your registration fee includes hours of hands-on dulcimer classes and sessions with the instructors, course handouts, and concerts each day of the festival.
What's the difference between a participant and a guest?
A participant is a person that is actually taking classes and sessions during the day. A guest (often a spouse or a good friend) comes to the festival, but does not take classes. Both participants and guests can purchase the meal plan.
Each participant's registration includes concert attendance each day. Additional concert tickets (for guests) are available for $10.00 each (be sure to get a ticket for each day!).
Where are the classes being held?
The Indiana Dulcimer Festival is being held at the Folkcraft Instruments facility in Woodburn, Indiana. All classes will be held indoors so you will be in the comfort of an air-conditioned room where you can focus on learning and having fun.
Is there a concert?
We are proud to announce that we will be having many concerts at the 2012 Indiana Dulcimer Festival. In addition to evening concerts where the artist/instructors perform, we'll also have solo concerts during the day, where you can really get to know an artist's style. Each instructor will get a solo concert during the daytime, plus will play on the shared concerts in the evening.
Concerts will be held indoors in our air-conditioned concert hall.
Where can I park?
There's plenty of parking on the east side of our building, as well as at the post office (next door) and behind the liquor store (across the street).
Where can I park... my RV?
There are limited parking spots for recreational vehicles around the Folkcraft Instruments facilities. While electricity is not available, there is no charge. Please contact us to reserve your spot.
We're also working on securing an RV park and campground with group rates for the 2012 Indiana Dulcimer Festival. We'll update this page with more information as it becomes available.
Where do I eat?
We are offering a meal plan again this year which will include breakfast, lunch, and dinner all three days of the festival for a total of nine (yes, that's right...nine!!!) meals. Nothing fancy, just good home-cooked meals provided by the Folkcraft staff.
Should I bring something to drink?
Water, coffee, soft drinks, and tea are available throughout the day for both participants and guests at no additional charge - these are included with participant and guest registrations.
Is there a "jam area"?
Yes! We're planning on making jam times more visible and organized than ever this year. We'll offer jams throughout all three days and try to get everyone involved. We've even hired an official "jam leader", someone you all know and love!!!
I want to sign up for the chromatic dulcimer class, but don't have a chromatic dulcimer. Can you help?
If you don't have a chromatic already (why not?), we'll loan you one of ours to use during class. There is no charge to borrow one of our chromatic dulcimers for class.
I want to sign up for the baritone dulcimer class, but don't have a baritone dulcimer. Can you help?
It is always best to have your own, but if you don't have a baritone dulcimer, we'll loan you one of ours to use during class. There is no charge to borrow one of our baritone dulcimers for class.
I want to sign up for the ukulele class, but don't have a ukulele. Can you help?
We make beautiful ukuleles, under the Druid Moon brand name. We'll loan you one of ours for class if you don't bring your own! There is no charge to borrow one of our ukuleles for class.
Is there a festival t-shirt?
Yes! One of the local screen-printing companies is making up gray t-shirts with the blue and white Indiana Dulcimer Festival emblem. You'll be proud to wear this shirt year round. Be sure to order your shirt ($15.00 each) when you register for the festival.
I registered, but my dog ate my dulcimer. Can I get a refund on my registration fees?
No problem! Let us know ASAP. We can issue a full refund through June 13, 2012 (30 days before the festival begins). After June 13, 2012, festival registration fees are not refundable unless we are sold out, and can sell your registration to someone else.
This is a "dulcimer" festival. What kind of dulcimer do you mean?
When we say "dulcimer" in the context of the Indiana Dulcimer Festival, we're referring to the Appalachian dulcimer. This instrument is also known as the mountain dulcimer, the lap dulcimer, or the fretted dulcimer. We do not have any classes (this year!) for the hammered dulcimer.
Where did you get all these photographs of really good-looking dulcimer players?
Most of the photographs on the IDF website and in the IDF brochure are from previous festivals. A few photos are from outside events that Folkcraft has attended or sponsored.
When you attend the IDF, either as a participant or as a guest, you give IDF and Folkcraft Instruments permission to record your likeness for both archival and marketing purposes.
I have MORE questions. Who do I talk to? Contact us. We'll be glad to help! Here's a link to the Indiana Dulcimer Festival contact page. |
